Incorporating a Novel Local Analgesic Into an Opioid-Sparing Strategy for Postsurgical Pain
Despite increased understanding of the mechanisms of pain, poor postsurgical pain management continues to be a significant problem facing health care providers and patients. It has been shown that effective management of acute postsurgical pain can benefit from a multimodal approach. This review discusses the role of non-opioid local analgesics as part of a multimodal strategy for postsurgical pain management in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
