Sugarbaker, Keyhole Techniques Yield Comparable Outcomes In Parastomal Hernia Repair

CHICAGO—Patients who undergo open parastomal hernia repair have similar outcomes at two years postoperatively, regardless of whether they undergo a retromuscular Sugarbaker or keyhole mesh placement, a new study has concluded. These findings, the researchers said, give surgeons the option to perform whichever approach is most appropriate for the patient’s anatomy and surgeon’s experience.
