Miami—A technically challenging, much-debated investigational operation to repair parastomal hernias now has multicenter data showing low risks for mesh erosion and recurrence in the short term—a finding that counters a single-center report of troubling rates of early mesh erosion, which led some surgeons to halt performance of this operation.
