ACA Boosted Trauma Care Coverage, With No Change in Mortality

Big Increase in Post-Discharge Access to Care

In one of the largest and most contemporary studies to assess the effect of the Affordable Care Act on trauma patients, the proportion of patients who lacked insurance fell 25% after the ACA was implemented in 2014. Over the same period, 30% more trauma patients obtained post-discharge care such as rehabilitation or home care.
