LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.—New research has concluded that rib injuries after blunt trauma are associated with increased long-term opioid usage.
Investigators at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center found that people who suffer rib fractures are more likely to receive opioids initially—and up to 12 months after their injuries—than patients who suffer other types of blunt trauma. Of note, the study also identified several risk
