Guideline Calls for Colonoscopy Before Resection To Find Second Tumors

Colorectal cancer patients require a colonoscopy around the time of their cancer resection to ensure that they do not have a second cancer, and to find and remove any additional polyps, the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer recommends in a new guideline.

According to the report published this winter in Gastroenterology, between 0.7% and 7% of colorectal cancer patients have a second, concurrent cancer at the time of their resection
