After a recent conversation with my son who was complaining about how antiquated medical school education is, I wondered if the same is true of surgical education. Is it keeping up with the rapid evolution in surgical care that we are witnessing? Prompted by this question, I reviewed the available literature, asked some of those responsible for residency training, and queried industry to see what changes are or should be made in the future for residents and post-residency
