Total hospitalization charges for inpatient care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) nearly doubled between 2004 and 2013, according to a study presented at the 2016 annual meeting of the American College of Gastroenterology (abstract 682).
Data from the Nationwide Inpatient Sample show the total mean charge for an IBD hospitalization rose from $23,690 in 2004 to $39,373 in 2013, according to Gary Lichtenstein, MD, director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at the University
