Course Helps Close Gaps in Laparoscopic Skills for Colorectal Disease

In 1997, after completing his surgical training, Peter Marcello, MD, had a career-changing moment. While visiting the Cleveland Clinic for a job interview, Dr. Marcello observed Jeffrey Milsom, MD, perform a laparoscopic right colectomy and a laparoscopic total colectomy in two patients.
 
Although Dr. Marcello had been doing laparoscopic cholecystectomies since the early 1990s, he had not yet ventured into the burgeoning field of laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
